Kookaburra is the sound of jungle in most of the Hollywood flicks. This amazing mimicry artist can mimic as many as 20 birds and several other sounds such as chainsaw, car horn, etc. Everything about this bird is uniquely amazing, from its social activities to eating habits to its natural laughter-like sound.

South Australia offers some 450 species of birds. Habitats range from the dry red interior to the lush and green Mt Lofty Ranges; wetlands and mangroves around Adelaide and estuaries in the Coorong, floodplains along the Murray River, vast expanses of the famous semi-arid mallee, and outback deserts with spectacular mountain ranges.

Some unique bird species including a small number of endemics can be found here. Over recent years an increasing number of Australian and international visitors have discovered the birding secrets SA has to offer. This website, created and maintained by Peter Waanders, aims to assist birders to make the most of their visit to SA.

Australia has some amazing animals. The aim of this site is to present photographs and information covering a wide range of Australian Wildlife.

There are now over 400 species of Aussie animals up on the site. Many of the pages have audio clips of bird or animal calls. Distribution maps have been included for most of the birds, mammals and reptiles.

It is the national animal symbolizing the forward-looking society and progress. A number of species are found which can be easily spotted, wherever you go in the country. The red kangaroos are the largest marsupials in the world, whereas the eastern gray kangaroos are the heaviest.Kangroo is oone of the important wildlife attraction of Australia.
